A trio formed in 1986-1987 by Nacho Colis (drums and voices), Javier Colis (guitars and voices) and Julio Jara (voice and lyrics), before constituting the first ones and together with Javier Corcobado and Javier Almendral the group Demonios Tus Ojos. Vamos A Morir's embryo has to be located in 1986, within the collective Gene, a group of artists which the painter and sculptor Julio Jara and the musician and video-artist Javier Colis took part of. During the period between 1988 and 1989 both groups Vamos A Morir and Demonios Tus Ojos coexisted. After the dissolution of the latter, in 1989, Vamos A Morir carried on and they won the first prize in the Demos Contest organised by the musical magazine Rock de Lux. This was a key year for the group since, thanks to this prize, they got a great number of concerts all through the country. At that time, Ajo, present singer of Mil Dolores Pequeños, performed as the improvised manager of the group, whose one of their greatest achievements was the negotiation of a tour in Germany, despite they had not recorded their first album yet.
At the beginning of the 90's, Jaime Munárriz and Javier Piñango got into touch with the group in order to record an album in the brand new discographic company Triquinoise. This first album was edited in September of the same year and it was recorded almost entirely live in the studio, in order to reproduce the basic and expressive sound of their concerts, being musically "supported" only by the solid and excellent rhythmical base of Nacho Colis' percussion and the rich and electric weave of Javeir Colis' guitar, being, amongst them, the exacerbating lyricism of Julio Jara's voice and texts. Poetry, blues, jazz and punk -combined each other in a unique way; a way that is hardly related to nothing and to nobody- have always been the main ingredients in the music of Vamos A Morir.
During 1991, the group introduced, live, their first record in Spain, while, at the same time, what was going to be known as Mil Dolores Pequeños was taking its form. Then, at that time, Javier Colis and Ajo started to create the great majority of the repertory that, in 1992 and now with Javier Piñango, would give form to Mil Dolores Pequeños' first album: "Lady Lazarus". Before that, at the beginning of 1992, Vamos A Morir recorded their second and definitive album, "Vamos A Morir II", which contained 18 tracks on its CD version. This album constituted the end of the group and it was published by the new discographic company Por Caridad Producciones, that arose after a split in Triquinoise. Soon after the publication of the album, Vamos A Morir definitely split off, leaving, after them two absolutely unique records and the memory of a large number of memorable concerts.

FUMA LA VIEJA

Fuma la vieja
cigarrillo mentolado

ciudadanos
oliendo el frenesí del asco.
La ciudad y sus almas acostadas
sobre chalets adosados
asco de domingo
asco navideño.
Porteros
la ciudad está llena de porteros
que bailan agarrados de la mano
las alegrías de la mañana
asco de domingo
asco navideño.
Me atacan con flechas de cal
clavándomelas...
¡Y aunque me hagáis desaparecer
brillaré en los ojos
de quien me ama!

VEMOS LA LUZ

Vemos la luz
pero nos hace daño
apartamos nuestros ojos
las pupilas son hierro fundido
el cielo nos aplasta
es un fósil marino.
La montaña
una ballena troceada
subimos con las pupilas estalladas
vemos al ave caer.
Hierro fundido en sus alas
y en la punta del pico plomo
el cielo sube como una persiana.
Vemos la luz
el hierro se ha enfriado
se fue la tormenta
una vaca
me lame los ojos

AMERICA DE HAMBRE

América de hambre
en la cocina cojo mal la FM
Es Africa
Resopla negro jazz
con la misma garganta
que las tribus del Zaire.
Quema versos
viejo chamán, hermano Lazarillo
y vete a la noche grasa
del suburbio y grita.
Aullas lo mismo
que los indios apaches

MUJERES ENAMORADAS

Sé que me esperas con una navaja
pero mis pasos te los brindo.
Subidos a la cima de la basura
quemamos neumáticos
para calentarnos.
Es la noche fantástica.
Por la mañana habrá escarcha.
Las campanas suenan
conocemos la puerta del cielo
pero con este calor nos basta.
En el pesebre tres clavos.
Uno para los pies
y dos para las manos.
No quiero decirte
que nos llegará un día
pero tú me lo dices con gestos.
Parece que te ha dado
un ataque epiléptico.
Es fácil volverse loco.
Es fácil llegar al amanecer.
Es fácil resucitar.

VAMOS A MORIR

Unión hace pobreza
pobreza contagia sabiduría
sabiduría rechaza al poder
el poder de los débiles
días de misa
misa que enciende farolas
las farolas
que se encienden en la noche
noche de largos viajes
viajes a pie
pie para cantar sentado
nada es lo que quieres
y lo que esperas es un beso

"Vamos A Morir make adult music. Music that you have to stop to listen to, in order to undertake all its shades and all the wise elegance which they re-interpret genres with." (Jesús Rodríguez Lenin - ROCK DE LUX)

"Vamos A Morir are a challenge, starting with the fact that the three members of the band are unique on their genre.../... They penetrate in distracted labyrinths, creating exasperating mirages, releasing wounded cracks and surrealist explosions of a weak purity. A mystery with broken nerves." (José Boix - RUTA 66)

"Everything is possible in this unclassifiable music: waltz backgrounds, punk hits, prophetic predictions, vocal verses that remind us to Gregorian chanting... All this in a block that has nothing to do with Spanish musical scene." (Q.P.V. - EL CORREO DE ANDALUCIA)

"Risky and disrespectful with fashion, Vamos A Morir have created a style of convulsed beauty, with free incursions on dance music, jazz and rock. And they even give us the impression that nobody has ever used the instruments in the way they do it." (Jesús R. Fernandez - YA)

"Nacho Colis built up with his drums the rhythmical frame in order to let Javier Colis -a real freak of guitar- to light up that blues retorted by the distortion or the syncopation that is only possible as the synthesis of a vast musical culture." (Gerardo Sanz - ROCK DE LUX)

"Vamos A Morir's music is an injury, a wound in the corner of the mouth that fixes you an everlasting smile; a pimple that does not allow you to place your buttocks on a chair; a pustule in the heart that spins to the limit the potentiometer that regulates the running of the emotions' boiler; a lacerating itching in the sole of the feet; the minuscule impact of a needle pricking on your neck." (Manuel L.Contreras - RUTA 66)

"Electric pain over involved schemes of blues, unrhythmical waltzes, ballads with seismic percussions, demented funk, black costumbrism and winding love declarations." (Luis Clemente - EL CORREO DE ANDALUCIA)
