Pail is the musical project of Manix S., who was born in Vitoria,
the city where he lives in and where he has his own studio, the
place where he composes and creates his music. This music can be
globally defined as electro-industrial, containing as well many
varied influences such as breakbeat, crossover or ambient. That
is, a sonorous orgy conceived over abrasive rhythms clashing with
cutting surroundings of electronic distortion. Samplers, sequences,
synthesizers... but also guitars incrusted in the final mass together
with ultra-cared voices.
"Epidemic", his debut album, was a shattering attack of industrial
techno set up over twelve breathless themes. It was edited by his
own company, Caustic Records, which was created as an alternative
to the lack of solid discographic options that there are in Spain
for this kind of music. In January of 1999, "Epidemic" was published
in Germany through the company Dion Fortune/ECR. The record was
distributed all through Europe, the United States and Canada, being
a great success in all of them. Because of this, the name of Pail
appeared in the main magazines and publications of the European
industrial scene, having repercussion even in Russia, Ukraine or
Romania. Besides, Pail appears in international compilatory albums,
sharing space with important bands such as Front Line Assembly,
Wumpscut, Haujobb, Dive, Biopsy...
Although Pail is a project conceived for only one person, he always
appears in his live performances with a formation composed by six
people: six musicians (voice-samples, mix-synthesizers, guitar and
drums) and two performers.
