Io Casino studied theatre - the Stanislavski system (Josep Ma Tudell, 1991-1993); direction and Rolfing corporal treatment; engraving (Manel Viusà 1994-1995); singing, with the baritone Joan Pons and Catherine Metayer; guitar (1992-1993) at the Andorra Conservatory; illustration (EAA, 1992-1994 and Avignon, 1995); characterisation and special effects (Cazcarra, 1989-1991); television and video production (Centre de la Imatge, Barcelona, 1991-1992, and MAE, 1991); group dynamics, marketing and sociocultural animation; and a postgraduate course in youth politics (University of Barcelona, 2005). He also studied in the Barcelona City Council (1998-1999); networking and social marketing - group dynamics; sound, with Eduardo Polonio (MECAD, 2001) and as a sound technician (Tino Rosón, Artenbrut and FORCEM, 1999), and protools (SGAE 2002).
She had regular encounters with the artists Joan Brossa, Antonio Beneyto, Sergi Mas, Joan Canal, Helena Guàrdia, Víctor Nubla, Maite Estevez, Manel Pujol Baladas, Ramon Bigas, Catherine Jauniaux, Francisco López, Phill Niblock, Marek Choloniewsky and Sven Ake Johanson.
Io Casino started out in the field of sociocultural animation, gradually delving into the management of cultural producers and direction and co-ordination of networking on local and transnational projects. She has always combined her creative activities with those of management, and has been the executive director of projects both local (Gràcia Territori Sonor, the LEM International Experimental Music Festival, from 1996 to 2006) and European (European Union Caleidoscope Programme, from 1996 to 1998).
Since the late eighties this sound artist and creator has developed a wide range of works of artistic, visual and sound experimentation. She has released four solo albums, two with DEDO, one live recording and a number of participations on compilations. All of her work is self-directed. In the last eight years she has performed music in France, Poland, Germany, Hungary, Switzerland, Italy, Argentina, Portugal and the United States. Over the last ten years she has organised, produced and promoted more than 650 concerts. She has been active in mentoring and in the Local Artists' Network for many years, fostering and encouraging artists, presenting their work in public and creating reference and exchange models among them.
