"Díscolo" is the album of debut of this formation composed by Javier
Adán (guitar), Javier Díez Ena (bass, double bass) and Javier Gallego
(drums).
Dead Capo came out on January 1999 with the intention of making
a free and instrumental music in which jazz, funk, swing, rock,
psychobilly, cinema scores, etc, could be mixed without prejudgements.
Some of their many influences are: John Zorn, Lounge Lizards, Captain
Beefheart, Sun Ra, Funkadelic, Raymond Scott or Don Ellis. Music
at least, in which "bastard" jazz, funk, black cinema scores and
a touch of humour, live together.
The list of collaborators of Dead Capo is a luxurious one: Nacho
Mastretta, Markus Breüss (Clónicos, OCQ, Scorecrackers, Mil Dolores
Pequeños), Juan Tamayo (sax, flute, clarinet), Jorge Magaz (piano,
keyboards), Tres (turntables), Manuel Morales (trumpet), Felipe
Rodrigáñez (saxes) and Enrique Monleón (trombone).
Dead Capo have performed at Primavera Sound 2003, EFEX Festival'03,
Jazz Festivals of Ibiza, Getxo and Soto del Real 2003, Emociona
Jazz 2002 and Cursos de Verano El Escorial 2001.

"Rich and shrewd music -endowed with irony- that
covers an ambitious spectrum. Nowadays, there´s nothing like them
in our country. They´re probably the most articulate and creative
instroband in Spain." (Jaime Gonzalo - RUTA
66)
"These three little genius have made an album
full of hidden details, so intense as imposible is to classify it."
(Jorge Obón - MONDO SONORO)
"It´s jazz. It´s the willing of breaking the
mould with popular vocation." (César Estabiel
- ROCK DE LUX)
"They show free attitude and musical background.
From the clasicism of hard bop and jazz scores they get to the rock
audience, tearing up musical narrow-mindedness." (LA
LUNA de El Mundo)
"A first album that enjoys and wins our love
in a mad way." (José Manuel Sebastián - PLUS.ES)
