In 1989 Cerdos (Pigs) one appeared as an eccentric band of noise/blues-punk/industrial
specially characterized of a side by the combination of electric
guitars and electronic bases and the other by texts and monothematic
titles: pornography, meat, dirt, blood and entrails of pig...
The origin of Cerdos goes back at the end of 1988 when three of
the members of the independent label Triquinoise Producciones (Ignacio
Menéndez, the ex-Monaguillosh Jaime Munárriz and C-666, also known
as Javier Piñango) they parallelly create to this one a new group
of which they will be the central nucleus extended in precise collaborations
by the guitarist Javier Rodríguez.
The method creative self-imposed, which he is in reality the one
that gives origin to the group, will finish decisively marking his
sound, until the point to make always work the concept over own
music in himself. This produces unequal results. But also it gives
a originality them in a while -final of the 80's- in which few Spanish
groups of noisy guitars came near to the world of the electronics.
They themselves explained this sonorous assembly and the method
of composition/recording in the press leaf of their only LP ("Cerdos",
Triquinoise, 1990): "the songs of this LP have been composed, recorded
and produced (each one) in a single day. A new form to work. Combining
the new technologies (midi, sampler...) with all the virtues of
the traditional system. The improvisation like method, fleeing from
the forced perfection. The energy of bluesmen, recorded in a simple
tape recorder." All it using electric guitars, rhythm-box, bass
and sequenced bass, analogic synthesizers, computer and voices,
used indifferently by the three fixed members of the group.
At the end of 1990 they make several performances presenting the
album and they shut in during two days in a field house to record
their second work "Live en el Matadero", published only in cassette
format: a collection of songs and sequences with echoes of The Residents,
spasmodic punk, mongoloid folk, psychedelic trance and sonorous-mental
distortion...
In 1991 the group separates. One year later Javier Piñango joined
Mil Dolores Pequeños, recording three LPs with them. In 1994 Piñango
and Jaime Munárriz create a new project called Destroy Mercedes:
electronic and psychedelic sounds, an intermediate point between
Suicide and Syd Barrett. On the other hand Ignacio Menéndez would
also publish in those days a new instrumental album of guitars under
the name of Tu Puta Madre ("Tus Muertos Underground",
CD, Triquinoise, 1994).

Me he visto antes bendiciendo la última cena
no me preguntes cuál
está a treinta manzanas
a treinta kilómetros
Mientras duermo enciendo y apago luces

"Free and experimental sounds that end up becoming obsessive and
mutant rhythms that wakes up the primary instincts of the listener."
(José Boix - RUTA 66)
"Cerdos base their sonorous speech on the improvisation
on mini bases rock, and their songs turn around a substantial monothematic
triangle: pigs, pornography and food...//... From Derribos Arias
we did not have counted with a so undisciplined band." (Dr.
Pork - RUTA 66)
